9:00 am: Meet at Memorial Park parking lot. Out of town guests and anyone else that wants to caravan / carpool leave Helena. The drive is about 45 minutes. (People from around town and/or confident they know where they are going can just meet at Wolf Creek Access bridge.
10:00 am: Everyone present at the put in at Wolf Creek. Expect this will take about an hour.
11:00 am (roughly): Depart on the river from Wolf Creek. Keep in mind this is "river time" so really we will depart when we are all ready.
12:30 pm - Lunch on an island about halfway down. Please bring a packed lunch for your crew. Be sure to include water bottles and drinks. No glass containers!
2:00 pm - Arrive at the Craig take out. Take out will also take about an hour. People that aren't actively loading boats can head on to the brewery or explore the small town of Craig.
3:00 pm - Convene at Tenmile Creek Brewery and head back into Helena at your leisure.
PFD for crew. We will supply for those who indicated they needed them. Kids are required to wear life vests at all times and adults must have a fitting life vest in the boat at all times, per Montana law.
Hats, sun shirts, sunscreen. Even when it's cold, the sun can be really intense.
Water shoes or shoes you don't mind getting wet.
Snacks and packed lunch for your crew.
Water for your crew.
Other drinks for your crew. Alcohol is permitted and quite common on these floats. Just make sure we can get you out of your boat at the end of the day and be mindful that we still have to drive back to Helena. Helena is at almost 4000 ft and we are floating at 3,500 ft in elevation so be cautious if you're coming from sea level - higher altitude means lower tolerance and an increased need to hydrate.
Layers. (sweatshirts, rain jackets). Blankets can be nice too. Towels highly recommended--even if you don't plan on getting in the water:)

This is a 5.5 mile float on big, flat water. With good weather it's ideal for a slow day on the river. It should take us about 2-3 hours to float. While there are no rapids or obvious hazards, keep in mind that this river is moving 6000-8000 cubic feet per second. That's a lot of water moving with a strong current. Also expect changes in weather, as this area can shift from warm sunshine to chilly clouds and wind fairly quickly.
Fishing: Our large party will make it a bit difficult to fish safely, but do know that Craig is considered a Fly Fishing Mecca. If you plan to fish make sure you acquire the proper licenses and be aware of the party around you. It's no fun getting hooked. Be mindful and courteous of other fisherpeople as we float.
